This group was formed on 24th April 2013.
Members come from the South Down, South Armagh area, specifically Rathfriland, Rostrevor, Warrenpoint, Newry and Belfast. We also have members from Dundalk, Drogheda and Navan.
This club is aimed primarily at the 50+ age group and the speed and difficulty of the hill climbing will reflect this.
'T' grade walk is for those who want to start with short low level easy walks – approx. 2.5 hours every Tuesday and Friday
'C' grade walk is for members who are ready to take to the hills but not too strenuous – approx. 3.5 hours every Tuesday and Friday.
‘C+ ‘grade walk is a bit more challenging than the C grade for members who wish to move up a grade - approx. 4 .5 hours every Friday.
'B' grade walk is for the more fit members who want something a bit more challenging – approx. 5 hours every Friday.
Prospective new members (who are not members of another hill walking club) must first come on a T walk and can progress to grade C, C+ and later to a grade B walk depending on their level of fitness.
On Tuesday there are only T and C walks , starting from the same location.
On Friday there are T, C, C+ and B walks. They start at the same location but take different routes.
The B walk is the most strenuous and challenging. See Leaflet for more club details.
